As can be seen in the images above, it is impossible to
distinguish the Farley Special Printing from the regularly issued
commemorative sheet from a single stamp, unless the stamp has a
wide margin, about 23 mm. The distance between the stamps in
the Farley pair shown is, of course, 23 mm. Any difference in
shade is incidental. Although the souvenir sheet, Scott 750,
was issued with gum, the lack of gum does not necessarily
mean the sheet is the Farley Special Printing, since the gum
can easily be removed from the regularly issued souvenir
sheet.
The 3¢ Mount Rainier Souvenir Sheet of 6 Special Printing, Scott 770, was issued as a sheet of 120 stamps,
printed by the flat plate method, with 20 panes of 6 stamps separated by
23 mm gutters. This Souvenir Sheet is
most appropriately collected as a pane of 6 stamps, as
shown below. Since this sheet has a wide margin, it is the
Farley reprint, Scott 770. If there were no 23mm wide margin
present it would need to be assumed it was Scott 750.
