Caution

Both Scott 449 and Scott 453 may be faked. We would advise purchasing these stamps with certification only, particularly Scott 449. Neither of these stamps are prime candidates for fakery, since there are no other Type I stamps that they can be made from. The best fake of the Scott 449 would be made from the Type III, Scott 450 stamp. However, there are so many differences between the Type I and the Type III stamps, it is nearly impossible to fool anyone willing to take the time to examine the stamp closely. The buyer would be well advised to buy the Scott 453 from a reputable dealer only and remember:  SCOTT 453  MUST HAVE A SINGLE-LINE WATERMARK.
